The Gentle Birth Project™ grew out of a need for a more holistic and educational childbirth preparation program available for women through hospitals, birthing centers or those wanting an assisted homebirth. The Gentle Birth Project is a Licensed Teacher Training Program through The Center for Women’s Fitness geared towards nurses, midwives, doulas, childbirth educators, massage therapists, physiotherapists, doctors, ob/gyns and healthcare providers involved with pregnant and postpartum women.
Module 1 – Safe Support™ with Jenna Zaffino
A 1-day program that is a part of The Gentle Birth Project under The Center for Women’s Fitness. Movement is often encouraged for women trying to conceive, throughout pregnancy and after delivery to develop a healthy, resilient body and mind. But what happens when things don’t quite work out as planned? Although infertility affects 1 of 8 couples in the US, this diagnosis is often unspoken, leaving limited options for safe exercise for couples going through treatments. Finding an educated professional can mean the difference between a devastating diagnosis and a time of mental and physical growth. In this course, participants will learn how to safely work with clients diagnosed with infertility through treatment and beyond.
Module 2 – Support your Floor™ with Carolyne Anthony
A 1-day program that is a part of The Gentle Birth Project under The Center for Women’s Fitness. Anatomy and function of the pelvic floor during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. This information is then linked into the movement class with specific exercises that will open and release the PF for birth and then close and strengthen the PF after the birth.
Module 3 – Progressive Exercises for the Pre and Postnatal Client with Carolyne Anthony
A 1-day program that is a part of The Gentle Birth Project under The Center for Women’s Fitness
Specially designed exercises on a stability ball/mat that will utilize movement that is supportive of a growing, changing body along with movement that will prepare the body for a natural birth. Relaxation and visualization techniques are included.
Module 4 – The Art of Massage and Binding with Hana Halim
A 1-day program that is a part of The Gentle Birth Project under The Center for Women’s Fitness. Post-Natal Regime or better known as Confinement Period has been religiously followed by women of various cultures in Asia. Though these handed down techniques and traditional products of the treatments vary from region to region, their goal remains the same: to heal the mother from the physical trauma, nourish the soul, and protect the spirit while caring for the emotional and psychological wellbeing. This program aims to educate Practitioners on the original Traditional Malaysian Post-Natal Regime that is still relevant today and adapt its key practices into the modern world to help mothers to revitalize their energy, mind and body.
Module 5 – The Positive Power of Nutrition with Julina Halim
A 1-day program that is a part of The Gentle Birth Project under The Center for Women’s Fitness. This program is designed to help Practitioners to be a better support to clients through understanding the changing needs of the pregnant and postpartum client for ideal nutrition and eating patterns. It discusses body compositions and needs, areas of concern and choice of eating pattern during pregnancy, the best nutrition for breastfeeding and healing postpartum and the various traditional practices around the world still in use today.
